This past weekend we celebrated the life of Captain Bob Russell. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend to so many people here in Hawai'i and it still seems surreal that he is no longer with us.
We gathered at Mahai'ula, one of Bob's favorite places to surf. It was a beautiful, sunny morning. A rainbow greeted us as we drove down towards the ocean. We shared stories and memories we had of Bob and got stoked on life together.
We spread flowers and watched his ashes become one with the sea. And then we all shared fun waves together, in his memory.
It was a gracious way to celebrate a life of someone who was special to so many people. An amazing waterman, woodworker and fisherman. An overall, Great Man.
There are never enough words. There is never enough time. Life is short. Enjoy the ride.
Aloha oe Bob.
